About Us

Welcome to saucedelights.com!

My name is Reyna J. Hershey, and if you’ve found your way here, chances are you love food just as much as I do. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest, where the heart of our home was always the kitchen. I remember standing on a little wooden stool so I could reach the counter, watching my mom roll out pie dough and my dad tend to a big pot of chili. That combination of warmth, patience, and a touch of experimentation stuck with me, and now, years later, it’s the foundation of everything I do in the kitchen.

My Culinary Journey

I’m in my mid-thirties now, and I live in a cozy home just outside Portland, Oregon. My kitchen isn’t huge, and my tools aren’t fancy, but I’ve learned that good food doesn’t depend on perfection it depends on love, curiosity, and the willingness to make mistakes along the way. I’ve burnt my fair share of cookies, over-salted soups, and even once forgot to add sugar to a cake (let me tell you, that was a memorable bite!). But those little slip-ups taught me something invaluable: cooking is less about strict rules and more about the joy of creating.

My Cooking Philosophy

What I love most is helping home cooks and beginners feel comfortable enough to try new things. Cooking can be intimidating, especially when you’re bombarded with glossy pictures and complicated recipes. But here’s my philosophy if you can chop an onion, boil water, and laugh at yourself when things don’t go as planned, you can cook. Truly. And once you start experimenting with flavors, textures, and even the occasional shortcut, you’ll see how cooking becomes less of a chore and more of an adventure.

Some of my happiest moments are when friends gather around my kitchen island, sipping wine while I teach them how to make something simple but satisfying like a creamy risotto that only sounds complicated, or homemade flatbreads that double as pizza bases. There’s magic in that space between nervous chopping and the first delighted bite, and I never get tired of seeing someone light up when they realize, “I actually made this!”

Food has always been my way of connecting—with my family, my community, and now with you. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been cooking for years but want to add a little spark back into your meals, I’m here to share not just recipes, but stories, encouragement, and the occasional kitchen mishap. Because in the end, the best meals aren’t just the ones that turn out perfectly they’re the ones that bring us together.

So, welcome to my kitchen. Pull up a chair, grab a spoon, and let’s cook something wonderful together.
