- 2 (3.9 oz) packages instant chocolate pudding mix (or homemade chocolate pudding)
- 8–12 oz whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups cherries (fresh, pitted, or jarred cherries packed in syrup)
- 2–3 tbsp Kirsch (optional — cherry brandy for authentic flavor)
- Chocolate shavings or curls for garnish
- Extra cherries for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the chocolate cake according to the package instructions and let it cool completely.
- Prepare the chocolate pudding as per package instructions, then set aside.
- In a trifle bowl, start layering by adding pieces of chocolate cake at the bottom.
- Spoon in a layer of chocolate pudding followed by a layer of cherries.
- Top with a generous layer of whipped cream.
- Repeat the layering process—cake, pudding, cherries, and whipped cream—until the bowl is filled, finishing with whipped cream on top.
- Sprinkle chocolate shavings and add extra cherries on the top as desired.
- Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving to let the flavors meld together beautifully.
