Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
- Bamboo skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- Sesame seeds (optional)
- Chopped scallions (optional)
- Steamed rice or greens (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Thread chicken cubes onto soaked bamboo skewers, leaving space between for even cooking.
- In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
- Whisk in honey, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and brown sugar; bring to a simmer.
- Dissolve cornstarch in water and stir into the sauce. Cook until thickened, about 2–3 minutes.
- Oil the grill grates or brush skewers with oil. Grill skewers for 3–4 minutes per side, until the chicken reaches 165°F.
- In the last 1–2 minutes, brush skewers generously with honey garlic sauce.
- Remove from heat and let rest for 2–3 minutes before serving.
Notes
Cut chicken into uniform 1-inch cubes to ensure even cooking. Soak bamboo skewers to prevent burning.
