  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Bamboo skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Sesame seeds (optional)
  • Chopped scallions (optional)
  • Steamed rice or greens (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Thread chicken cubes onto soaked bamboo skewers, leaving space between for even cooking.
  3. In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute.
  4. Whisk in honey, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and brown sugar; bring to a simmer.
  5. Dissolve cornstarch in water and stir into the sauce. Cook until thickened, about 2–3 minutes.
  6. Oil the grill grates or brush skewers with oil. Grill skewers for 3–4 minutes per side, until the chicken reaches 165°F.
  7. In the last 1–2 minutes, brush skewers generously with honey garlic sauce.
  8. Remove from heat and let rest for 2–3 minutes before serving.

Notes

Cut chicken into uniform 1-inch cubes to ensure even cooking. Soak bamboo skewers to prevent burning.
