No-Yeast Bread in 20 Minutes

This warm, simple recipe for No-Yeast Bread is perfect when you want a fresh loaf without the wait. Enjoy with breakfast, soups, or as a side for dinner.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil or olive oil
  • Melted butter, sea salt, or herbs for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Pour in the warm water and oil, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead lightly for 1-2 minutes; shape into a round or oval loaf.
  5. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet and pat the top smooth; slash the top with a sharp knife.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.
  7. Allow the bread to cool for 5-10 minutes on a wire rack before slicing. Serve warm with butter or dipping oil.

Notes

Measure flour accurately to avoid a dense loaf. Use warm water to help the dough come together easily. Brush with melted butter for a shinier finish.
