- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- Combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a bowl. Add softened butter and vanilla, mixing until crumbly.
- Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust.
- Mix strawberries, lemon juice, cornstarch, and cinnamon in another bowl. Spread the strawberry mixture over the crust.
- Crumble the remaining pastry mixture over the top of the strawberries.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before cutting into bars and serving, preferably warm with vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Use ripe strawberries and chill dough briefly in warm kitchens for best results.
