Sweet Cherry Summer Treat

Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 2 cups cherries, pitted and halved
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Crust & Topping:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix the cherries with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Mix in the softened butter until crumbly. Press half of the crumble mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Spread the cherry mixture over the crust, then sprinkle the remaining crumble mixture on top.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown. Allow to cool before cutting into bars and serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Try adding a sprinkle of flaky sea salt for enhanced flavor.
