- 1/2 cup lentils (red or yellow)
- 2 medium carrots, peeled and chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup milk (breast milk, formula, or regular milk)
- 1 1/2 cups water
- A tiny pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)
- A drop of olive oil (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients by peeling and chopping the carrots into chunks, and rinsing the lentils under cold water.
- Combine lentils, chopped carrots, unsalted butter, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer for 8-10 minutes until soft.
- Allow the mixture to cool.
- Transfer to a blender, adding milk and blend until smooth. Adjust consistency with more milk if needed.
- Serve the puree in a bowl, ensuring it’s at a safe temperature before feeding.
Notes
For older toddlers, pair with soft toast strips or use as a mild vegetable side for chicken or fish.
