Carrot Lentil Purée

A cozy and nutritious baby-friendly puree made with sweet carrots and tender lentils, perfect for little ones.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup lentils (red or yellow)
  • 2 medium carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup milk (breast milk, formula, or regular milk)
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • A tiny pinch of ground cinnamon (optional)
  • A drop of olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients by peeling and chopping the carrots into chunks, and rinsing the lentils under cold water.
  2. Combine lentils, chopped carrots, unsalted butter, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer for 8-10 minutes until soft.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool.
  4. Transfer to a blender, adding milk and blend until smooth. Adjust consistency with more milk if needed.
  5. Serve the puree in a bowl, ensuring it’s at a safe temperature before feeding.

Notes

For older toddlers, pair with soft toast strips or use as a mild vegetable side for chicken or fish.
