- 1 cup Unsalted butter, softened (can be replaced with margarine for dairy-free)
- 1 cup Brown sugar (light or dark brown sugar)
- 1 cup Sweetened shredded coconut (or unsweetened coconut with adjusted sugar)
- 2 cups All-purpose flour (whole wheat flour can be substituted)
- 1 cup Sweetened condensed milk (or evaporated milk for less sweetness)
- 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract (pure recommended)
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt (to enhance sweetness, optional)
- 1 cup Caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the flour, salt, and sweetened shredded coconut until well combined.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan to form a crust.
- Mix the sweetened condensed milk with vanilla extract and pour it over the crust.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars and serving.
Notes
Use room temperature butter for easier mixing. Ensure not to overmix the dough and allow bars to cool completely for easier slicing.
