Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5–2 lbs steak (sirloin, ribeye, flank, or skirt)
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1–2 tsp dried herbs or seasoning blend (oregano, thyme, or steak seasoning)
- 1 tbsp honey or 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Mix together minced garlic, soy sauce, and choice of seasonings in a bowl.
- Add olive oil and black pepper, then mix well.
- Optionally, add honey or brown sugar for sweetness.
- Place steak in a zip-top bag or shallow dish, pour marinade over, and seal or cover.
- Refrigerate and marinate for at least 30 minutes, ideally a few hours or overnight.
- Remove steak from marinade and grill or pan cook to desired doneness.
Notes
Marinate at least 30 minutes for surface flavor; 2–8 hours is ideal for deeper flavor. Pat steak dry before cooking for a better crust.
