Delightfully fluffy cinnamon rolls swirled with rich cinnamon and brown sugar, topped with luscious cream cheese frosting.

  • Total Time: 150 minutes
  • Yield: 12 rolls 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Milk (can substitute almond or soy milk)
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Butter (for the milk mixture)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Water (warm, for yeast)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons Active dry yeast (ensure it’s fresh)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Butter (softened, for the filling)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream (ensures moist rolls)
  • 8 oz Cream cheese (softened, for frosting)
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (enhances frosting flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the milk mixture: Heat a small saucepan and combine milk, sugar, and butter. Warm until just below boiling; remove and cool slightly.
  2. Activate the yeast: Dissolve yeast in warm water in a bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. Make the dough: Combine flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Create a well in the center and add the milk mixture, yeast mixture, and eggs. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled.
  5. Prepare the filling: Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter in a bowl; mix until combined.
  6. Roll out the dough: On a floured surface, roll dough into a rectangle and spread filling mixture evenly over the surface.
  7. Form the rolls: Roll tightly into a log shape and slice into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Prepare for baking: Place rolls in a greased baking dish, pour heavy cream over the rolls, and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  9. Bake the rolls: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Make the frosting: Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  11. Finish and serve: Let rolls cool slightly, then spread frosting generously over the top. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes
