Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound Shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup Breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup Red onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 Egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 Whole wheat burger buns
- Lettuce and tomato as desired
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat with cleaned grates and a light oiling.
- Chop the shrimp finely on a cutting board or pulse in a food processor until roughly uniform.
- Combine the chopped shrimp, breadcrumbs, red onion, garlic, parsley, beaten egg, paprika, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl.
- Mix the ingredients gently with a wooden spoon or clean hands until evenly distributed without overworking the shrimp.
- Form the mixture into equal portions and shape each into a compact patty about 3/4 inch thick.
- Oil the grill grates lightly using a folded paper towel held with tongs and a high smoke point oil.
- Place the shrimp patties on the preheated grill and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes per side.
- Flip the patties once when the underside has clear grill marks and the tops begin to firm.
- Check internal doneness by ensuring the patties are opaque throughout and register 145°F on an instant-read thermometer.
- Toast the whole wheat buns briefly on the grill, then assemble burgers with lettuce, tomato, and desired toppings.
Notes
Use chilled shrimp and keep the mixture cold to prevent patties from falling apart while grilling.
