Homemade Playdough

This homemade playdough is squishy, colorful, and perfect for creative play. Quick to make with common pantry staples, it provides hours of fun for kids.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 4 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Food coloring (various colors)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, mix together the flour, salt, cream of tartar, and vegetable oil.
  2. Gradually add the water and stir until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and forms a dough.
  4. Once thickened, remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Add food coloring and knead until the color is evenly distributed.
  6. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

Store airtight and press out excess air to keep it soft for weeks. Use gloves or a plastic mat to avoid dye on hands.
