Honey Garlic Ground Turkey

A delightful dish that combines savory ground turkey with a sweet and sticky honey garlic sauce, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Turkey (Opt for extra-lean for a healthier dish or substitute with ground chicken or beef.)
  • 3–4 cloves Garlic (Fresh minced garlic enhances flavor.)
  • 1/4 cup Honey (Creates a sticky glaze; can substitute with maple syrup.)
  • 1/4 cup Low-Sodium Soy Sauce (Use tamari for gluten-free.)
  • 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar (Apple cider vinegar works as a substitute.)
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil (Adds nutty depth; can omit for a lighter version.)
  • Red Pepper Flakes (optional, to taste) (For extra heat; can use fresh chili or chili paste.)
  • 2 stalks Green Onions (Add freshness and crunch, chives are a good substitute.)
  • 1 tbsp Neutral Oil (Canola or Avocado, for sautéing.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Mince the garlic, slice the green onions, and measure out all ingredients.
  2. Sauté Turkey: Heat the neutral oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  3. Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic, as it can become bitter.
  4. Mix Sauce: In a bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix well.
  5. Add Sauce: Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked turkey. Stir to combine, cooking for an additional 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove from heat, and garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

Use a heavy-bottomed skillet to ensure even cooking. For extra flavor, let the turkey marinate in the sauce before cooking.
