- 2 cups Warm water
- 1 packet Active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
- 4 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup Baking soda
- 1 Large egg
- Coarse salt (for sprinkling)
- 1 cup Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup Beer
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Mustard powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Activate yeast by combining warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour gradually to the yeast mixture and knead until smooth. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Shape the dough into small pieces and form pretzel bites.
- Boil water in a large pot, add baking soda, and gently drop in the pretzel bites for 30 seconds. Remove and place them on the baking sheet.
- Brush the pretzels with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the beer cheese by melting cheddar and cream cheese in a saucepan over medium heat. Add beer, garlic powder, and mustard powder, stirring until smooth.
- Serve warm pretzel bites with the beer cheese dip and enjoy!
Notes
Use freshly grated cheese for the best texture. Experiment with different types of beer for customizing the cheese dip flavor.
