Ingredients
Scale
- 3–4 lbs Apples (Granny Smith or Fuji), peeled and sliced into wedges
- 2 tablespoons Cornstarch, for thickening the sauce
- 1/4 cup Brown sugar, provides deep caramel flavor
- 1/4 cup Granulated sugar, balances sweetness
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon, classic spice that enhances flavor
- 1/4 cup Butter, melted, for richness
- 2 teaspoons Lemon juice, adds brightness
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract, for a warm aroma
Instructions
- Prepare the apples by peeling and slicing them into wedges.
- Mix the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, melted butter, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
- Add the apple wedges to the sugar mixture and fold until well coated.
- Transfer everything into a slow cooker, spreading the mixture evenly.
- Cook on low for about 240 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Check that the apples are soft and the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
Notes
Choose apples that maintain their shape well during cooking. For a more intense flavor, let the apples marinate in the sugar mixture for 30 minutes before cooking.
