Slow Cooker Cracker Barrel Fried Apples

A comforting side dish featuring sweet apples, aromatic spices, and rich butter, perfect for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 255 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lbs Apples (Granny Smith or Fuji), peeled and sliced into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch, for thickening the sauce
  • 1/4 cup Brown sugar, provides deep caramel flavor
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar, balances sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon, classic spice that enhances flavor
  • 1/4 cup Butter, melted, for richness
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon juice, adds brightness
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract, for a warm aroma

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apples by peeling and slicing them into wedges.
  2. Mix the brown sugar, granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, melted butter, lemon juice, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
  3. Add the apple wedges to the sugar mixture and fold until well coated.
  4. Transfer everything into a slow cooker, spreading the mixture evenly.
  5. Cook on low for about 240 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Check that the apples are soft and the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.

Notes

Choose apples that maintain their shape well during cooking. For a more intense flavor, let the apples marinate in the sugar mixture for 30 minutes before cooking.
