Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box butter pecan cake mix (plus all ingredients needed to bake according to box instructions)
- 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup salted caramel
- 8 ounces whipped topping
- 2 cups toasted pecans, chopped
- Whipped cream (for serving)
- Chocolate turtles (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven and bake the butter pecan cake according to the package directions. Allow it to cool completely, then crumble into large crumbs or cut into cubes.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups of sugar and 1/2 cup of water over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Cook without stirring until amber, then remove from heat and whisk in 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt. Let cool.
- Heat 2/3 cup of heavy cream until steaming, then pour over 8 ounces of chocolate chips. Let sit for 2 minutes before whisking until smooth, then allow to cool slightly.
- Beat the cream cheese in a mixing bowl until smooth. Fold in the salted caramel and whipped topping until light and spreadable.
- To assemble, layer the cake cubes in a trifle bowl. Drizzle with caramel and ganache, add the cream filling, and sprinkle with chopped pecans. Repeat the layers until the bowl is filled. Finish with whipped cream, a drizzle of caramel and ganache, and garnish with chocolate turtles.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
Ensure the cake is fully cooled before crumbling to prevent sogginess. Feel free to customize with your favorite candies.
